While recordings of bagpipe bands from Scotland and the U.S. are commonplace, it has been all but impossible to find a recording of an Irish band on CD- until now, that is! With the CD release of this classic recording by the Thomas Davis Memorial Pipe Band of County Tyrone, you can now enjoy the thrilling sounds of a world class bagpipe band performing an Irish repertoire. The Thomas Davis Memorial Pipe Band from Newry Co. Down, was started in memory of the famous Irish poet Thomas Davis, of Mallow Co. Cork, author of The Wests Awake and many other beautiful Irish poems and songs (What Irish heart has not beat faster to the strains of A Nation Once Again, Davis' most famous song). Led by pipe band major Tony Fitzpatnck, the band has won the All Ireland Championships 3 times, World Championship in their grade, as well as many solo honors. This recording was made with great national Irish love and pride. We sincerely hope the listener will feel the same emotions on hearing the Thomas Davis Memorial Pipe Band.
